My daughter was learning how to draw people. If you have ever tried to draw humans, you know they are quite a lot harder than drawing animals, and most other things. To encourage her, I asked her to draw some fan art of how she imagined T and Astra from ‘Timber Layne’ to look. She didn’t seem to be enthusiastic, and so many other art projects came and went, that I assumed it wouldn’t happen. But it did! I got an email from her just the other day with not one, but two pictures!

Almost Friendly
Considering the dark cover and tone of the book, T and Astra look almost happy in this fan art, though Astra is hiding behind T as usual, and her smile seems a bit hesitant. To add to the silliness, my daughter even drew T with a wide-brimmed hat, though he most certainly would prefer his black ball cap with a raven on it. The addition adds a wonderful upswing to what has been a terrible life for T so far.

Engagement
Perhaps as I become better at marketing my books and myself, I will have a better way to judge how engaging my stories are and which audience needs them the most. For now, receiving fan art shows the story stuck with the audience and resonated with some piece of themselves.
This is only the second fan art piece I have ever received, and I really need to find the first one and get it posted. Life is so much better with artsy fans. I must encourage this trend to continue.
Thanks for the fan art, baby girl. Keep it coming!
